Anyone who knows me knows that there is nothing more that I love than coconut and vanilla flavoring. When I got this lovely recipe for coconut vanilla ice cream and was armed with a bottle of Nielsen Massey's vanilla extract I was filled with glee. Hello? Yum. I have always wanted to make ice cream so I treated my family to some homemade ice cream from scratch. The recipe was easy to follow and so much fun. I wasn't sure if I could do it but viola! It was very rich but it's alright once in a while to splurge on something delicious. The extract from Nielsen-Massey's has the best flavor. We have always used that other red labeled stuff at home and it never tasted like this. I cannot wait to make it again in a couple of weeks for a friends dinner party. I love what they did here in the photo with the coconut shell as a bowl. This is the perfect summer treat! With this heat you need a little sweetness in your life. Well, good news for you. Coconut Vanilla Ice Cream

(Yield 1-1/2-quarts)
Ingredients ½ cup heavy cream
¾ cup caster sugar* (baker’s sugar)
1 tablespoon Nielsen-Masseys Pure Vanilla Extract
2 (13.5-ounce) cans unsweetened coconut milk
½ cup sweetened flaked coconut, toasted (garnish)
¾ cup caster sugar* (baker’s sugar)
1 tablespoon Nielsen-Masseys Pure Vanilla Extract
2 (13.5-ounce) cans unsweetened coconut milk
½ cup sweetened flaked coconut, toasted (garnish)
Directions
- In a small bowl, whisk cream, sugar and vanilla extract until combined; set aside. Add coconut milk to a large glass measuring cup; add cream-sugar mixture and stir.
- Assemble ice cream maker and pour ice cream mixture through filling hole. For the perfect ice-cream follow the manufacturer’s appliance directions.
- While ice cream is churning, toast the coconut. Preheat the oven to 350°F.On a small rimmed baking sheet, evenly spread coconut; place in oven and toast, about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, as coconut will toast quickly. Cool and store until ready to use.

I’ve been using pre-workout for about 2 years now, taking it on and off every month or so. So today was my day to try the Twinlab Clean Series. It’s been about 2 months since I’ve taken pre-workout so I knew going back into it would be an intense rush. I took the normal dosage on the container and my first thought was that it tasted like watered down, poorly dissolved bits of vitamin C. I used a shaker bottle with the metal sphere for better mixing, but it still did not dissolve. I just had to chug the bottle to avoid that intense citric taste.
I started feeling antsy at about 20 minutes and for the next hour, felt the effects. My face, arms, legs, felt that itchy feeling that most pre-work outs give. I worked out moderate-hard and noticed that I was sweating way more than I normally did. Even after my cool-down, I was still sweating (Maybe it’s this damn heat wave in California).
Since I work out at night, I tried falling asleep after (it has never been an issue before, even taking other pre-workouts). The only thing keeping me up was that I was still sweating –much less than during the workout, of course, but still. I was still, however, able to fall asleep.
Overall, I rated this product a 6/10 because it has a good pump and a non-crashing effect that some other pre-workouts have. It lost points for mixability and for the fact that I couldn’t stop sweating even though I had already cooled down.
We also received the sport protein mix. I tried it two ways, one was mixing it in cold water like the label suggested and I didn't too much care for the flavor. But, when I do what I usually do with protein mixes (blend a banana and mix water with a bit of nonfat milk) then it tasted actually a lot better than most. I would highly recommend the protein mix. It kept me full all morning until snack time and I didn't feel the crash feeling with the unnatural substances. The caloric intake was balanced as well being 90 cals per serving (minus banana). I will continue to use this mix as my default one. The chocolate flavor by Twinlab is quite tasty. 
Alright! I know some of you have ready the Fifty Shades of Grey novels and are always in desperate need of more Christian Grey. I know I am. I loved the books and though they made you feel a little embarrassed to read them in public, you kind of wanted to try some of the stuff that Mr. Grey and Anastasia tried during their arrangement.

Hey hey ladies! I have had the pleasure to try out some of these fantastic and chemical free feminine cleanliness products. If you haven't grabbed a bottle of this stuff, get on it now! I have horribly dry cuticles all the time and have finally found a cuticle oil that does the job. Essie is a fantastic company; they have the best colors in nail polish plus it's a quality product. Personally, I don't like to buy any other nail polish brand but when it comes to cuticle oils I didn't know if theirs would stand up to the challenge. It's light, convenient and only needs to be applied twice a day. The benefit of the apricot oil as opposed to other oils is that it's full of vitamin A and it's actually best for the skin. Massage therapists use apricot oil because of it's absorptive qualities. The best part is that it's reasonably priced and in case you're like me and hate getting manicures that are ruined ten minutes later, it'll allow you to give yourself the spa treatment.
