Fitness and Travel... What Happens In Vegas

9:07:00 PM

Hi guys! So I went to Las Vegas this weekend for my lovely friend Zach's birthday and let me tell you, when you're on the road and are trying to limit your calorie intake, you need to plan ahead. Because honestly it's tough. We had a fantastic time driving, singing our lungs out and laughing like fools in a snazzy Audi A7 (courtesy of Laura's dad--thanks Stew!). We had a great time, but we didn't pay too much attention to what we ate because we were in such a rush that whatever was available, we ate.

They say whatever happen in Vegas, stays in vegas. But considering how poorly we monitored our food intake, I say it follows you home. Sure we did a lot of walking--in high heeled shoes that looked adorable but when push came to shove made me feel like I wanted to saw off my legs--but we didn't burn more calories than we consumed. That makes me feel a little guilty, but I'll need to be accountable for it and push forward.

Motivation:

My weigh in is tomorrow so let's hope and pray I didn't do too much damage. I'm in the mindset to do better, look better, feel better--so that's what I'm going to do. It's a life change, I'm making the commitment, and I will lose this weight. As Chris Powell says in his new book Choose More Lose More for Life, "healthy eating and exercise are half of it...the other half is changing your mind". He's 100% right on that one and I love the ideas behind his philosophy. I read over the books sections on the way to Vegas this weekend, and he does a fantastic job of giving you all of the details you care about when you're looking for guidance on how to lose the weight and keep it off.

I loved skimming through the meal plans, exercise ideas and want to try something he calls Shredders that melt the fat. When I read a lifestyle change book like this, I want to make sure I learn something I didn't already know from it and he really gives you all he's got in this. Chris Powell makes you feel like you're on Extreme Makeover when you're reading this, and if you just tweak the way you think about yourself, and the problem (the weight), then you can see the result and make it happen. I'm going to look through some of these exercises and post about the ones I chose so you can try them with me. In the book he mentioned Carb Cycling, and for those of you who are trying to find a way to reduce carbs, this may be for you. Check it out and tweet me @ellohoneybee

Fun stuff from this weekend:

I love new music, and while we were in Vegas, we went to this great club called Hakkansan and got to see--front row--Dada Life. For those of you who are into the DJ, EDM stuff, it's amazing and so much fun to dance to.
