FitFatNotSoFun and Sweaty Bands Giveaway!

Think of her as a brunette in my case. 

As some of you know, I have been toying with the idea of sharing my lifestyle change of being the chubby, funny girl, to a thinner (not skinny), healthier, funny girl. They say that when you have a goal, you need to be accountable to someone other than yourself so that you have a better chance of pushing yourself if someone else knows about it. So, I'm telling you and my good friend Jennie (she and I are on this mission together).

When it comes to fitness, you can think of my philosophy as more of a Lena Dunham philosophy: the only way I’m running is if something is chasing me.

I don’t love crazy exercise that makes me feel like I’m going to die. I do however like long walks, light jogs and playing soccer (which has become more difficult because I hate to run). This is not to be confused with a hatred of exercise; I think exercise is good for you and can really help relieve stress and should be done.

So, I have decided to make myself accountable to you! Which means, I am tired of looking in the mirror and seeing myself one way when I feel like a different person on the inside.

I know this is going to be a struggle but it’s something I am willing to do and am in desperate need of. I’ll be sharing some ideas about exercise, fitness fashion tips and bringing in some guest fitness advisors to help me get on the ball.

Cool stuff to come will be giveaways, some fun exercise diagrams and a support system from others that are trying the same thing. So, share your thoughts with me and we can do it together.

Why am I doing this?

For myself. I am the only one who has to live with the way I look and feel. I love everything about how I choose to go about my everyday life except how I have been neglecting my body. The truth is, that unless we care about our bodies, then nothing means anything because we won’t be around long enough to realize our dreams.

  1. I'm with you on this. I actually miss working out, but it's so hard to get back in the routine once you stop. It was also much easier when it was included with tuition. Now that I'm out of school (and broke) it requires more of an effort lol

    What made me want to change is something that happened this week. I had to fill out a health form for our new insurance plan at work. All of my responses were "none of the above." I realized I'm perfectly healthy but treating my body like crap. I have no reason for not being in better shape besides laziness.

    I much prefer the gym to working at home but I'm gonna ease back in slowly. I already have weights, medicine ball, a million videos...

    Once I can work out again without passing out, I'll graduate back to the gym. I'm a weights fanatic. I love lifting and watching myself in the mirror. Makes me look and feel powerful.

    1. I haven't had my gym membership in a while (because it's expensive) so I'm having to use the land like a native lol. I really love long walks so I'm making myself go more and more. Plus, working out with friends is really helping out.

      The workout videos that I love are the NYC Ballet videos. They work your core like crazy and they don't make you feel like you're not going to make it. Plus, there's no annoying person telling you to move it with a deranged smile on their face lol.

      As far as weights go, I need to learn how to use them. The hard parts are not the workouts so much as it is the food intake.


    2. I completely agree with you about your diet. Even if you're exercising regularly you can sabotage all your efforts by eating the wrong foods.

      As for videos, I have three faves: Jillian Michaels, "No More Trouble Zones" (hardcore circuit workouts with weights), Kristi Yamaguchi, "Power Workout" (power cardio w/ strength training intervals), and a power yoga video (can't think of the name right now). And by power I mean I was sweating, shaking, and sore at the end lol

    3. I have to try those. I actually just tried a Jillian Michaels workout that was on one of those health magazine websites. I also just got turned onto Blogilates. This blogger started a workout site with videos and printable workouts that you can do at home. She's fun and a lot of people have lost weight doing these five minute videos.
