Pleated skirts are the big fashion trend this spring, and we are loving them on some of our favorite fashion blogs and fashionistas. But these pleats don’t have to stay in the realm of prissy work looks; they can be dressed casual with a simple loose and flowing tee or given a little rocker edge, with a graphic tank and leather jacket. A great pleated skirt can be a versatile piece to have in your closet, and can add a fashion-forward, feminine touch to any outfit.

Here are some of our favorite ways to wear them:

Look 1: Play up the femininity of a knee length, or just above the knee pleated skirt in a great neutral shade like black or this blush. Adding a colorful blouse like this red and pink top, can pack a punch with a pop of color while keeping the rest of your accessories. We added a great statement, gold chain necklace and some spiked bangles that give this look some edge. Paired with gold-capped nude heels and an oversized bag, your work look has been given an injection of fashion-savvy style.

Look 2: Maxi skirts don’t have to be frumpy, and this look is far from that. A great choice is a pleated maxi skirt like this Ombre one. Make your look fresh with a graphic tank, leather jacket and favorite sandals for a quintessential concert or weekend look. Polish off your style with details like cat eye or aviator sunglasses, metallic studs, bold ring and a great cross-body bag, like this black-fringed option.

Look 3: We love the femininity of a midi-length pleated skirt. Although you can get them in any color, this aqua piece is great for spring. Dress down the dressiness of the skirt with a great slouchy tee and a fedora. Keep the look classy with a pair t-strap shoes like these black flats, jeweled studs, and a dash of accent colors, like this coral bracelet and blue bag.
